Senior Associate Promotions at Mourant in the Channel Islands

Friday, 07 May 2010

- 4 May 2010

Mourant du Feu & Jeune lawyers Kate Storey and Lionel Woodward have been promoted to senior associate with immediate effect.

The promotions are a result of continued growth for the law firm.

Managing Partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: “Kate and Lionel are both experienced lawyers and have proved themselves to be extremely capable in their respective practice areas. I am sure that they will make a significant contribution to the firm's future development.”

Kate Storey

Guernsey-based Kate Storey qualified as an English Solicitor in 2000 and prior to joining Mourant du Feu & Jeune was a senior associate at Cobbetts in Manchester where she gained extensive experience of a wide variety of corporate and commercial transactions and was also seconded to the in-house legal function at Matalan.

Kate joined the Guernsey office in January 2007 as a member of the finance and funds teams and qualified as a Guernsey Advocate in July 2009.

Icelandic ash permitting, Kate enjoys travel, especially visits to France, and spends many a weekend catching up with friends in the UK. She enjoys films and theatre and the idea of getting fit. She dabbles in sailing and in 2007 took part in the Manches Cup, one of the UK’s largest sailing regattas, with the Mourant team.

Lionel Woodward

Lionel Woodward, based in Jersey, joined Mourant in February 2006 after five years practice in London (including two years with City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner) and seven years in South Africa. He is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales (2002) and as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (1996). He graduated from Natal University in South Africa with B.Soc.Sc (Honours) and LLB degrees and holds a higher diploma in corporate law from Witwatersrand University.

His specialist areas include corporate structuring, financing transactions and international joint ventures. He has experience in a wide range of corporate, banking, M&A, commercial and finance related matters.

Lionel enjoys swimming, gym, fishing, golf, painting and photography, and was part of the six man Mourant team that swam around Jersey in 2007.
