Employers 'must recognise possibility of stress'

Bosses of people in roles such as banking jobs must take steps to ensure their employees' mental health is well looked after.
This is according to Kevin Friery, clinical director at Right Corecare, who suggested that many employers may not realise the stress their workforce is under if things appear to be running well on the surface.
He added that making significant changes to the way in which staff members work could result in individuals risking mental health issues if they are not handled correctly.
"If employers started by acknowledging that and understanding that, they would start to imagine that perhaps the way they break this news or implement this policy might have an impact on people's emotional wellbeing," Mr Friery added.
One way in which employers may consider to help their staff could be to offer flexible working, as it was recently stated by Shirley Borrett, development director at the Telework Association, that all employees could benefit from this.
