Geneva
Relocation Advice - Geneva
Geneva is a hugely important city not just in Switzerland, but also within Europe and the world. Home to the UN and WHO and the headquarters of various multi-nationals, it's a bustling cosmopolitan business centre which AP Executive are at the heart of.
While the city itself is a modern business hub its close location to the Alps creates a stunning location with great skiing and leisure opportunities. The standard of living in Geneva is very high - it regularly ranks well on the Mercer Quality of Life index - but you do pay for these high standards with a high cost of living. However executive level professionals in legal and financial services should be able to cover these costs. While many ex-pats did return home during the banking crisis and cut backs were made this is still a healthy place for job hunters with a large international community.
The official language in Geneva is French due to its location on the border, but you will find a whole range of European languages spoken here, and the public transport network is highly efficient. If you visit prior to moving to search for property or meet your employer and stay in a hotel, the hotel is required to provide you with a free public transport pass, which will make it easy to get to know the city.
