The Turks and Caicos Islands are situated 575 miles (or 75 minutes) southeast of Miami. Covering 193 square miles of the Atlantic Ocean, the Turks and Caicos Islands have the third largest coral reef system in the world, and pristine white sandy beaches, making it a premier vacation destination. Politically, economically, and socially stable, the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British dependent territory, have the lowest crime rate in the Caribbean and have enjoyed enormous growth in the offshore finance industry over the past ten years. The offshore financial service industry is gaining in both popularity and reputation amongst both companies and individuals. There is no taxation whatsoever on income, capital gains or corporate profits, nor is there any withholding tax legislation, and there are no inheritance taxes or estate duties payable in the islands. The official currency is the U.S. dollar.
