Offshore centres and idyllic beaches: Caribbean Executive Search - what's stopping you?
The Caribbean is home to many off-shore financial centres, and many companies have their off-shore domiciles in places like Bermuda, BVI and Nevis. Financial services such as insurance, reinsurance, hedge funds and investment thrive on these beautiful islands, where tax rates tend to be low and English is widely spoken (in many places it is the national language).
Caribbean islands offer incentives to draw international business so many companies benefit from 0% capital gains tax, and some locations such as the Turks & Caicos have no direct taxation at all. Most of the larger international audit firms are represented already in the Caribbean, particularly in Curaçao. This region is one that businesses should take into consideration when planning global expansion.
Living standards are high, and skilled immigrants often find that their salaries double, triple or more on moving. The Cayman Islands has the highest standard of life in The Caribbean, but conditions are good across all the islands.
The island lifestyle means that those moving from small communities will settle in easily - the short commutes and small teams will be familiar - while those from busier cities will appreciate the slower pace and quality of life. With the addition of the climate and beaches and the good standards in education and healthcare (for example Barbados' literacy rate is close to 100%), the reasons to consider the Caribbean are endless.
Visas:
Work visas are required but entry is generally straightforward, particularly for British and European citizens. Most of the islands are keen to encourage foreign business so workers with employment or skills can obtain visas, however advice should be sought as some restrictions do apply.
