Requirements to set up a company

The process of setting up a company in Lausanne is relatively straightforward. In addition to creating a business plan and selecting an appropriate business structure, you will also need to register with the trade register. Financial requirements vary based on the type of business you are establishing. You may need to submit Articles of Association, and deposit a minimum share capital.


Requirements for employees wishing to relocate

Being able to speak French is certainly advantageous when seeking employment in Lausanne. That being said, there are plenty of international companies here, many of which use English as the main language, as well as other European languages.

Non-EU/EEA residents must obtain a visa and C settlement permit in order to reside and work in Lausanne. Typically, you need to meet certain criteria in order to obtain a Swiss visa. These include being a skilled and qualified worker, or already having a job waiting for you.

If you are an EU/EFTA resident, residence is typically obtained from the Office for Migration. To obtain this, you will need to present and employment contract.
