People in investment management jobs may be just as productive if they are permitted to work flexibly, the results of a new study indicate.

Conducted by Cisco, the Connected World Report revealed three out of five employees think they get just as much done away from the office as they do when they are in it.

Many would also take the opportunity to work flexibly over a higher-paid position, the study found.

Dave Evans, futurist and chief technologist of the Internet Business Solutions Group at the firm, said enterprises should use these results as an indication they need to introduce changes.

"Employee mobility is a fact of life and the business advantages are clear across many industries," he stated.

Many survey respondents admitted flexible working opportunities could affect their loyalty towards their employer.

Earlier this month, chief executive of Work Wise UK Phil Flaxton said the opportunity to carry out tasks away from the office could change "the face of employment" in the UK.
