Due to our long-standing trust expertise and more than 30 years global recruitment experience, AP Executive is a boutique recruitment and search agency specialising in servicing the needs of single-family offices. For the benefit of our complex clients’ needs, we provide assistance to UHNW families, entrepreneurs and family businesses, sourcing this unique industry for versatile, professionally qualified and hands on executives.

Family office environments are always unique and varied, depending on many factors of the multinational families and entrepreneurs we have been assisting over the years. There is no standard description for family office jobs and recruiters need to take this into account. Our experienced consultants understand that each role is different and each family has its own individual demands and cultures. To simplify what the term family office means, basically it is usually a private business which is non-commercial with a selected staff complement of around 5 to 20 employees depending on the owner’s assets under management – the larger portfolio and more diverse AUM’s being managed the larger team of staff are required. The professional staff employed only deal with the direct family assets under management and private and family affairs of the principle. The business do not advertise any services nor do they have websites or advertise unlike a commercial multi-family office company would expect to. They like to be discreet and confidential regarding their family and business affairs. Family offices can have more than one level of generations that staff need to deal with. Philanthropy also plays a big part with UUHNW individuals and so it is not unusual that the entrepreneur and family may have a foundation trust to be administered benefiting a number of charities.

Over the last few years private offices have branched out into venture capital and private equity trading. This has meant that the traditional ‘chief of staff’ role which was the norm for a head of family office could now mean the role is suited to a Chief Investment Officer or Tax Lawyer or Accountant and trust professionals. Other roles include specialisms in commercial industries depending on the entrepreneur’s assets and investments ie oil & gas, real estate, antiques and luxury goods etc.

Our candidates enjoy the prospect of working closely with a successful entrepreneur and so roles in the private office space are always popular. Salaries and working conditions are also excellent however the employee has to work at times unsociable hours and weekends if the principle of the family office requires.

In Jersey there are a number of discreet private offices who employ locally and have decided to operate from this location due to the close links to the UK and of course the tax benefits for the principle and their family.

We recruit for the full range of family office jobs. AP Executive works on both contingency and retained searches, depending on the complexity of the assignment the private office is looking to fill.

Should you be interested in finding a job in this interesting industry then you do need to have excellent professional qualifications pertaining to the role available.
