An existing single family office is creating a new branch in London to lead its investment activities, and is seeking an exceptional chief investment officer (CIO) to work closely with the principal. The CIO will report to the family office principal and the existing CEO of the family office based in Europe.
The ideal candidate will currently be in a CIO role or a senior investment role either within a family office or in a recognised financial institution, and have a background in investment banking, fund management, private equity or similar. Expertise in private market investment, including private equity, private debt and direct investments is essential, and a solid understanding and experience in public markets (equities, fixed income, FX, structured products) is also required. An ability to, build teams to make and manage direct investments should be evident. Real estate investing, including premium residential and hotels will be a secondary focus, and experience and knowledge of these areas would be a plus. Familiarity with strategic asset allocation and manager selection is needed and relationships with fund managers in the UK, Ireland, Western Europe and North America are a prerequisite. A first-rate network for sourcing private direct investments is a key criterion. Languages are important, especially to facilitate and manage investments in Western Europe; fluency in French, German and other European languages will be considered an advantage. A qualification in finance is fundamental and preferably at a higher level such as MBA, ACA/ACCA, CFA Charterholder or equivalent.
