One of Mexico’s preeminent family offices is seeking a financial controller to lead general accounting, financial control, and consolidated reporting for multiple entities and jurisdictions. The role requires technical expertise and tax knowledge in Mexico, the USA and other offshore jurisdictions, together with experience in financial reporting for complex investment environments, multigenerational family wealth, and the ability to build financial projections. The role will report to the CEO and CFO.
Main Responsibilities
• Supervise general accounting for entities in Mexico, the USA, and offshore jurisdictions.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and monthly reports for the respective Committees of Interest.
• Coordinate external and internal audits.
• Prepare budgets and expenditure projections, and control variances against approved budgets.
• Supervise tax compliance in Mexico (ISR, VAT, withholdings) and coordinate with international advisers.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies aligned with best practices.
• Support the implementation of financial management systems.
Multi-jurisdictional Accounting Management
• Supervise the consolidated accounting of all Holding entities in different jurisdictions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS, US GAAP, and Mexican NIF standards.
• Coordinate accounting closings and bank reconciliations for multiple international accounts.
• Manage cash flows and financial reporting for the C-Suite and stakeholders.
Taxation in Mexico, USA, Offshore
• Tax planning and compliance in Mexico (ISR, VAT, IEPS), the United States (Federal, State
Taxes), and Offshore entities.
• Coordinate with external providers on the preparation and review of corporate and personal tax returns in these jurisdictions.
• Manage withholdings, provisional payments, and recurring tax obligations.
International Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (FATCA, CRS, AML).
• Coordinate external audits and respond to requests from tax authorities.
• Maintain supporting documentation for transfer pricing and intercompany operations.
• Manage regulatory reports for entities in different jurisdictions.
Coordination with External Advisers
• Act as the main liaison with accounting, tax, and legal firms in Mexico, the USA, and other jurisdictions.
• Supervise the work of local accountants in each operational jurisdiction.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities and conduct specialised technical consultations.
Wealth Planning and Structuring
• Support the structuring of wealth vehicles (trusts, holdings, companies).
• Analyse tax implications in acquisitions, sales, and restructurings.
• Document accounting policies and internal procedure manuals.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPC/CPA certification is desirable.
• Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in Big 4 firms, private banking, or family offices.
• Knowledge of NIF and US GAAP accounting standards.
• Experience with international structures, investment vehicles, and board reporting.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Advanced command of Office Suite and modern accounting systems.
