Our international funds client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to support the compliance and operations functions of an offshore India dedicated investment fund based in Mauritius.. The ideal candidate will have between 5 and 10 years relevant experience and be capable of independently handling multiple core functions within a lean and growing organization.
The role will primarily be to ensure full regulatory and operational compliance of the offshore fund structure in Mauritius. This includes monitoring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and investor agreements, and coordinating with service providers and regulators as required. The candidate will also be involved in maintaining and updating compliance documentation and supporting regulatory filings.
From an operations and fund accounting perspective, the ideal individual will oversee shadow accounting activities, review and reconcile NAVs prepared by administrators, and provide approvals in line with internal controls. The role will also involve clearing and processing fund related invoices, coordinating closely with auditors for the annual audit of both the fund and the investment manager, and ensuring timely closure of financial reporting requirements.
The position will include limited trading related responsibilities, such as placing trade orders and allocating trades across the SMA and the main fund. While trading volumes are not high, accuracy, timeliness, and coordination with portfolio management and brokers will be essential.
In addition, you will support research and documentation initiatives, including compiling materials and ensuring that policies and processes are in place to address regulatory and tax related considerations such as POEM. Prior experience in this area is not mandatory, as training and close guidance will be provided by the COO.
Contribute to investor relations activities by preparing and sharing performance updates, presentations, attribution analysis, holdings reports, and other relevant investor communications. Responding to investor queries and supporting the VP of Investor Relations when required. This includes coordinating with fund administrators on subscriptions, redemptions, and related investor servicing matters.
Candidates with additional expertise will be viewed favourably, particularly those with knowledge of side letters and investor agreements, exposure to U.S. regulatory requirements such as ADV filings, and experience handling operational due diligence (ODD) processes for institutional investors. Experience or interest in fund structuring and tax related matters such as setting up new structures in India or overseas, transfer pricing, POEM, or handling tax litigation will be considered an added advantage.
Strong communication skills, fluency in English, and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment are essential. The role requires a self driven individual with a process oriented mindset, strong attention to detail, and a long-term perspective aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.
