Those working in accountancy jobs may be interested in the view of one expert, who has stated a review of employment law should be welcomed.

Chief executive of Work Wise UK Phil Flaxton stated that current regulations favour staff, noting that there have been major improvements in pay and conditions over the last 20 or 30 years.

He went on to note that the UK has "over the years become a suing society" as individuals follow on from what happens in the US as opposed to the system in place in the rest of Europe.

"We have seen over the last decade a tendency in certain quarters that [some] UK citizens have been very quick to either sue their employer or … claim for industrial injuries and accidents," he continued.

Mr Flaxton suggested that the law was too lenient towards things like industrial tribunals and said that a review of the system "is a good thing".

The Daily Telegraph recently reported that changes to employment regulations could include measures such as allowing companies greater freedom to sack underperforming workers.
